Where’s Worldo · Policy

Privacy policy

Effective July 5, 2026 · Version 1.0

The short version

Where’s Worldo is designed so we learn as little about you as possible. The iOS app collects no data at all — your progress lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, where we cannot see it. The website keeps your progress in your browser and uses a small, cookieless analytics tool to count plays and catch errors. There are no ads, no accounts, no tracking across sites, and nothing is ever sold.

What this policy covers

Where’s Worldo is a free daily map game made by Kevin Lee, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). It has two surfaces: the Where’s Worldo iOS app and the web game at whereisworldo.com. This one policy covers both, and each section below says which surface it applies to. The two differ, so please read the section for the version you play.

The iOS app: no data collected

The app works entirely on your device. It has no server, no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party software components.

In App Store terms: Data Not Collected. We receive nothing from the app — not your scores, not your guesses, not your device information.

The website (whereisworldo.com)

Your game data

Game state, stats, streaks, and preferences are stored only in your browser's localStorage, under a single key (pindrop.v1). This data is never transmitted to us. Clearing your browser's site data for whereisworldo.com erases it.

Map tiles

To draw the map, your browser requests tiles directly from third-party servers: OpenFreeMap (map data © OpenStreetMap contributors) and, in satellite view, Esri. Like any web server, they necessarily receive your IP address and the tile requests needed to serve the map. We do not operate these services; their practices are described in their own policies: OpenFreeMap, the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy, and the Esri privacy statement.

Fonts

All fonts are self-hosted on whereisworldo.com. There is no Google Fonts and no font CDN, so loading type sends nothing to anyone else.

Analytics

The website uses Amazon CloudWatch RUM, an AWS performance and usage monitoring service, in a cookieless configuration: no cookies, no persistent identifiers, no cross-site tracking, no advertising, and the data is never sold. It records:

This data is processed by Amazon Web Services in the United States and retained for a limited period (CloudWatch RUM's default retention of 30 days) before automatic deletion. See the AWS privacy notice for how AWS handles data as a processor. Analytics applies to the website only — the iOS app contains none.

What we never do

Data retention and deletion

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of personal data. With Where’s Worldo, the practical picture is simple:

If you have questions or want to exercise a right, email us and we will respond. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Children's privacy

Where’s Worldo is suitable for all ages. We do not collect personal information from anyone — adults or children. There are no accounts, no profiles, and no personal-data collection, so there is nothing for a parent or guardian to review, consent to, or delete.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and its effective date. Meaningful changes will be described here rather than buried. The current version always lives at this address.
